Food Quest: The Search for the Hottest Instant Noodles (made in Asia) from the Supermarkets in Cebu City

I am starting a new series of post which I am collectively calling it as FOOD QUEST.   The title is obvious.  I am to share the discoveries I made for a certain category of food that I am sprucing up and evaluating. FOOD QUEST   1 :  The Search for the Hottest Instant Noodles (within Asia) from the Local Supermarkets in Cebu City Let me discuss to you a brief history of the Instant Noodles. Instant noodles  were invented by  Momofuku Ando  and first marketed in  Japan  in 1958. [8]  According to Ando's method, a bundle of fresh noodles is flash-fried, which dries them out and provides for a long shelf life. (www.wikipedia.com) The first in my list is coming from the PHILIPPINES, of course, it's my country.   LUCKY ME!  is the most famous brand of instant noodles nowadays which is manufactured by Monde Nissin Company.   Lucky Me!  is the undisputed no. 1 instant noodle brand in the Philippines with a ...

Something Japanese in Hong Kong - Sushi Express (Take-Out)

The influence from my forever travel buddy to appreciate and relish Japanese food has been soaring.  Even in Hong Kong, I dipped into a self-indulgent delight with Japanese cuisine - the salmon sushi - at Sushi Express ! When we finally booked a hotel in Yau Ma Tei area, I knew we will have the best chance to take-out scrumptious sushi from Sushi Express (Take-Out store). This was my dinner from Sushi Express.  I forgot the cost of everything but I did not remember myself complaining about how much I have spent.  So definitely, this was one affordable meal. My choice of SUSHI!  My most favorite is always with SALMON, 3  out of 5 kinds.  But I also tried some other toppings, and those were all good too, especially the fish (the brown topping with seaweed). The best wasabi that I have ever tasted yet. I love the vintage look of the 7-up can.  So retro and quirky. I just can't get enough of the SUSHI. I love ...

What / Where I Ate In Hong Kong - KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken)

Kentucky Fried Chicken - It was our best option to have our lunch while we were in the exhibition held at Asia World Expo.  It was the nearest, most accessible and the most affordable from the array of food sellers outside the exhibit area. The place was small and situated in a food court type of eatery.  The food choices were also minimal compared to a regular KFC fast-food store located inside malls or stand alone branches. My choice was called a HOT WINGS COMBO which costs 85 HKD.  The combo is a mix of 4 pcs hot chicken wings, regular fries, 1 egg tart, Lays Potato Chips or Doritos and medium size softdrinks. Unfortunately, they do not sell rice, so I had to persuade my self to be contented with the fries.  The meal did not fully satisfy my gustatory cravings but have somehow filled in the emptiness of my hungry stomach.  In my opinion, the price was quite high for that kind of combo meal.  The size of the chicken wings brought a frow...

What / Where I Ate in Hong Kong - Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine

Happened to have the opportunity to be in Hong Kong some few months ago.  And since I blog, seriously blog now about food and food establishments,  I had then the best chance to capture my gustatory adventures and now sharing it with my seemingly "eager-for-good-food" audience. The search for anything with Hello Kitty or about Hello Kitty direly continues.  And when we were to travel to Hong Kong, I researched and discovered that the people of Hong Kong have extraordinarily adopted Hello Kitty in their culture and made a restaurant dedicated to the famed Sanrio character with a prominent touch of the Chinese cuisine. This is the facade of the HELLO KITTY CHINESE CUISINE .  It is not located in a remote and special area.  But the red signs and posts attract the passers-by and onlookers' curiosity.  When you look closely, oh my, it's Hello Kitty in Hong Kong!   Upon stepping my foot on the restaurant, I felt a shiver travel up my spine...
