Weekday Brunch at the WEEKEND in Cebu City, Philippines

During my 45-day vacation in Cebu, Philippines third quarter of this year, I decided to dine at new (literally new and those existing ones that I have not conquered yet) dining establishments in the city.  And that's what I did.  This foodie journey was started off with our brunch meal at the  Weekend during a warm weekday on July. Weekend is located at  The Greenery, Pope John Paul II Ave.,  Kasambagan , Cebu City.  This is new to me since when I left the country last January, I have not yet heard about this restaurant.   It was a humid day and the hospitality of the restaurant was initially expressed through the iced-cold glass of water that they offered.  And we just needed that badly. Their menu was presented in a simple, minimalist manner, sort of modishly rustic and somehow reminded me of Brique's menu, see HERE . Dining in at restaurants always begins with the serving of your choice of beverages. ...

What / Where I Ate in Cebu City, Philippines - SEAFOOD ISLAND

I would like to say that Seafood Island has been known for its Boodle meal set.  And maybe for those who have experienced a "boodle fight" meal here may agree with me that their version is quite uncommon as the food presentation is peculiar to this restaurant. Though accessibility is not the main attraction to this restaurant, their delectable Filipino dishes are a must-try!  The decorations impart a "Fiesta" mood and some beach vibes too.   This particular branch is located at the fourth floor of the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu and it would expectedly give us a good view of the blue skies, the greenery of Ayala's mini garden and the high-rise establishments within Cebu Business Park. Ready for the "boodle fight", prepped with silverware for the eating warriors! From among the array of boodle set meals, we opted for the TALI BEACH good for 3-4 persons! And see below for its actual presentation! Is it closely simila...

What / Where I Ate in Cebu City, Philippines - SHABU-WAY HOT POT CUISINE

Shabu-Way Hot Pot Cuisine is a fusion restaurant - a mix of  Korean, Japanese, Asian dishes in one dining place. I'll be giving a bit info here on the two concepts that this restaurant offers, via wikipedia: What is SHABU-SHABU ? Where it originated? Shabu-shabu   (also spelled  syabu-syabu )  is a Japanese  nabemono   hotpot  dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables boiled in water. [1]  The term is  onomatopoeia , derived from the sound emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot and served with dipping sauces. [ citation needed ]  The food is cooked piece by piece by the diner at the table. Shabu-shabu is considered to be more  savory  and less  sweet  than  sukiyaki . Shabu-Shabu   was introduced in Japan in the 20th century   with the opening of the restaurant "Suehiro" [2]   in   Osaka , where the name was invented. Its origins are traced back to the ...

Food Review: Another KINDER BUENO Story

Kinder Bueno Milk Chocolate Coated Wafer is one of my favorites go-to snacks (if available in our fridge!) I have already posted a Kinder Bueno Chocolate Coated Wafer food review previously, you can see it HERE .  However, it does not include the WHITE  variant.   The original MILK CHOCOLATE variant.  The WHITE variant which looks totally different from the other two variants.  I thought there were only two variants of this brand of coated wafer: original / milk chocolate and dark chocolate, so I made a food review of them last year, see HERE .   But when I arrived in Doha, Qatar, I discovered that there is a white version too and I needed to update my food review on Kinder Bueno wafers.  More photos... Oh, I just love capturing my favorites! The reasons why I really love munching these yummies are: (1) the chocolate coatings which gives you that  real, pure, exquisite chocolate flavor;  and...
