Dining at Cafe Laguna, especially at their SM City Cebu branch has always been, most of the time, the family's unanimous choice for lunch whenever we visit the mall. This dining experience was part of my 45-day vacation / foodie journey, during the third quarter of 2017, to my home city. Since I was on "vacation" mode, the best way to rekindle with my favored restaurant was to check out and try what was new on the menu.
And that time, we were fortunate that a new dish was out, and it was promoted right on our table. Hello, KANSI!
As defined / described by Cafe Laguna, KANSI is a Negrense (from the Negros provinces) mildly sour soup of tender beef shanks and langka (jackfruit).
This table, by the glass window with a street view, is our favorite dining spot in the restaurant. Lucky again that it was vacant when we arrived.
Our choice of refreshments, were as usual, served first:

The freshness of the vegetables, despite steamed, were retained. I prefer this manner of cooking than having them grilled. And that extra small bowl of "ginamos" was the key to a truly appetizing starter.

Still amazed with the sour taste despite it was already known ahead. And it was indeed spicy but just at a tolerable level. The beef was cooked perfectly for easy bites. This is a MUST-TRY dish!

It was good. Though I am not a fan of the beans so I shunned away from these or gave them out to my mom or dad. I have arrived to a conclusion that an ube ice cream is the perfect ice cream flavor to top off any halo-halo preparation. Rice crispies added interesting texture, and I loved it. f.y.i.
