Something Filipino in Doha, Qatar - MAX'S RESTAURANT

A Filipino will always yearn and search for Filipino taste in food.  During my first few weeks in Doha, my desire to eat something Filipino was round-the-clock.  And when I was brought to one familiar Filipino restaurant, my wishes granted and my cravings ultimately satisfied. Hello, Max's Restaurant!

The first time we dined there was for a dinner meal.  And my heart was beating faster than its normal pacing since I was excited to taste Filipino foods from one of my favored chicken restaurants back home.  See photos below for the dishes we ordered for that one delightful dinner meal.

Combo Meal: Platter Meal

Food Details:
a quarter size of the  golden fried chicken; served with rice (can also be served with sweet potato fries), and complementary pancit canton and Max's caramel bar
Food Taste Comment:
Somewhat a complete meal with loads of carbs and protein.  Always love the taste of the fried chicken and best paired with rice!  The taste of pancit canton was typical and the caramel bar did not impress me, unfortunately.

Tofu

Food Details:
Fried tofu with a spicy kick.
Food Taste Comment:
One word: delicious!

 Crab and Corn Soup

Food Details:
Soup with some corn kernels and pieces of crab meat slices
Food Taste Comment:
I am a bit dismayed with the taste. Somewhat a diluted version of my own recipe using the Knorr Crab and Corn powder mix.  I hope this recipe will be improved.

The second time we visited Max's Restaurant in the same branch was for Luncheon meal!  And I ordered another set of dishes to try on and review as well.

Pancit Luglug

Food Details:
Thick rice noodles with vegetables, lemons, prawns and sliced boiled egg.
Food Taste Comment:
First time to taste this kind of Filipino noodle recipe.  It reminded me of the Pancit Malabon but less tasty than the latter.

 Max's Fried Chicken

Food Details:
1/2 size, golden fried and served with sweet potato (kamote) fries.
Food Taste Comment:
The taste was expectedly similar to how it tasted back in the Philippines.

 Pinakbet with Tofu

Food Details:
Mixed Filipino vegetables with prawns and tofu and sautéed with shrimp paste.
Food Taste Comment:
I am always a fan of pinakbet.  This is a twist though due to the tofu, and surprisingly what a great scrumptious combo together with the prawn too.

White Steamed Rice is a forever staple for a Filipino meal.
And a glass of Ice Lemon Tea is always a better option to choose from a number of familiar and new kind of refreshments from a menu.
