A Must-Try Restaurant in Davao City, Philippines - BONDI AND BOURKE

We decided to spend a few days in Davao City to visit family and some relatives on the week of December last year.  Yes, this is another throwback to my travels with foods for 2016.  Whenever we travel to Davao City, we always checked-in at Legaspi Suites. See HERE  to read on the promise I made to only stay in Legaspi Suites whenever we visit Davao City. And to our surprise, they had new restaurants to indulge in for foodies like me.

Have you heard of BONDI AND BOURKE? Yes? No?  When we stepped inside the restaurant, it was my very first time also to discover that such restaurant existed in the Philippines.  I emphasized "in the Philippines", since they have also branches in Makati City and Taguig City in the Luzon region.  (F.Y.I. Davao City is located in the Mindanao region.)

The place is pretty neat.  Situated inside an ancestral-home type of establishment, it appealed both antiquated and contemporary with a touch of class.

Those items from the menu with white check marks were the dishes that we ordered for our "SNACH" - a meal eaten after lunch but before afternoon snacks.  Remember, I coined this term in my Master Po post, see HERE.

Normally in restaurants, when you do not specify the order of serving your foods, drinks always come in first.

My forever food and travel buddy opted this time for an iced PINEAPPLE JUICE and I tried for the YO LA MANGO which is a fruit drink mixed with yogurt.  Such a healthy option.  I have been saying in my other posts that when it comes to beverages, non-alcoholic of course, I am very experimental.   But when it comes to foods, I certainly am not.  And I cannot even explain this myself, why.

I have been into spinach dips, so we ordered for their version:
 SPINACH AND BACON FONDUE
(English spinach, smoked bacon and toast)

I loved the presentation, the texture of the fondue and the taste - ultimately delish!

Another dish for our "snach" was this beautiful-looking, spring-inspired salad which screams both healthy and tasty.  They called this PRAWN, a big salad, good for sharing which is made of fresh mango, green leaf lettuce, asparagus, almonds, cherry tomatoes, onion strips, cucumber, spring onions,  honey, garlic and poached tiger prawns!
