What / Where I Ate in Cebu City, Philippines - FUJINOYA

I am always in search for the most delicious chocolate cakes.  When we passed by Fujinoya sometime ago, I told myself that I should come back to see if they offer chocolate cakes, and so we did visit F U J I N O Y A Bakery - Gourmet Coffee - Bistro for the very first time. The visit was worth it since they offered a chocolate cake which they named it as Fujinoya Special Chocolate Cake .  Imagine, I whole size of the cake costs Php 1,500.00, so I expected this must be a delicious one.  We ordered for one slice.  And guess, what?  PERFECTION is what I tasted!   10 of 10 food rating for the texture and taste, and despite quite pricey but it's worth the splurge.   Another delectable discovery we made at Fujonoya is their Japanese Cheesecake .  I am not a lover of cheesecake (my sister does) but their version looks too basic but tasted supreme.  Another 10 of 10 food rating.   Their smoothies and frappes were gr...

Food Delivery: Son-Gohan Onigirazu

Food Delivery has been one habit we have practiced with my officemates at work (then) mostly for lunch time.  We were eager to try new food concepts from budding restaurateurs. We loved Japanese, Korean and of course Filipino dishes.  One time we opted for something Japanese and selected SON-GOHAN Onigirazu . What is   O N I G I R  A Z U ? Onigirazu  (prounounced “oh-knee-ghee-rah-zoo”) is a cousin of onigiri. The differences can be explained in the  meanings  of the names. Nigiru, which is the foot of the word onigiri,  means  “to compress or squeeze.” -- via the internet Order No. 1:   BUTA KIMCHI  Japanese Rice Sandwich BUTA KIMCHI is the Japanese version of Korean's Pork + Kimchi combination.  In Korea, they call it  Jaeyook Bokk eum . I was surprised that the rice sandwiches were quite full and chubby looking than I imagined.  Slicing it into two halves revealed the scrumptiou...

Something Korean in Cebu City, Philippines: BON CHON (Delivery / Dine-In)

The first time I had a taste of BON CHON was quite adverse.  I never thought I would crave for their foods, but now I am hooked most especially to the addition of BIBIMBOWL FIERY SPICE CHICKEN in their menu! To get a taste of Bon Chon's foods, you can either go to their physical store and eat-in or go online and opt for their delivery services which is NOT FREE of charge. D E L I V E R Y Everytime I open the BIBIMBOWL FIERY SPICE CHICKEN, I smell happiness. This is how they package their foods: Left is a box of FISH AND FRIES;  Right side is the plastic bowl for the a la carte BIBIMBOWL.  Chicken + Veggies + Rice = COMPLETE MEAL. I love also their FISH and FRIES set especially the SPICY flavor.  But during this delivery I opted for the SOY GARLIC flavor as my BIBIMBOWL was already spicy. Food Rating for FISH and FRIES Soy Garlic: 8 of 10 since I am more for the spicy one. D I N E - I N   When I had th...

Food Review: Jack and Jill's Coated Pretzels

It's snack time and why not take out those four different flavors of coated knot pretzels from Jack and Jill megabrand! These snack products is a Filipino pride since it is made by Universal Ro bina Corporation. Jack and Jill's knot pretzels now comes in four toothsome variants:  1. Choco Knots - Chocolate Coated Pretzels (brown color) 2. Berry Knots - Strawberry Cream Coated Pretzels (pink color) 3. Milk Knots - Milk Coated Chocolate Pretzels (cream color) 4. Choco Knots Blast - Chocolate Coated Chocolate Pretzels (dark brown color) My most favorite flavor is the CHOCO KNOTS - Chocolate Coated Pretzel.  This was the first among the four that came out from the group.  I love the crispiness of the pretzels and the milk chocolate coating is pleasurably tasty. Home-Cooking: Fresh and Fried

For tonight, I want to share something prepared at home, not by me but my mom. Who doesn't love eating something fresh and something fried foods with main ingredients coming from the seas?   something FRESH something FRIED Have you eaten this seaweed?  Do you its name? In English, it is called SEA GRAPES or PHILIPPINE GREEN CAVIAR.   In our local dialect, Bisaya, it is called LATO .  After washing it with clean water, no soap, it can be eaten directly or dip and soak it with vinegar and spices for some zest. Another yummy treats from the seas, are fishes which have been dried.  This kind of food can be eaten after being fried or grilled.  My mom opted it fried and this is such one great appetizer.  How it's called in our dialect? We call this BUWAD BOLINAO . Eat good food, everyday!

What / Where I Ate in Hong Kong - POPEYES LOUISIANA KITCHEN

Travelling is such an amazing experience, most especially if the trip is outside of the country.  Last March of this year, I had the chance to travel, for the very first time to the United States of America. But, since we travelled with Cathay Pacific, it is but part of their route to always make a stop over in Hong Kong.  We had a lay-over of more than 12 hours.  And what better way to spend such free time is to step on to the soils of Hong Kong. An OVERNIGHT in Hong Kong is not complete without having to see and experience the bustling night life of the city. For my dinner during this stay, we opted for Chinese noodles, the YAU MA TEI noodles as recommended by the husband of my boss.  Unfortunately, I was not unable to capture the noodles that we ate. This is my first photo for the hashtag: #fromwhereistand .   This is the very first photo of the series of #fromwhereistand shots, and the first shot is in Hong Kong.  It was even l...

Something Japanese in Cebu City, Philippines - 168 RAMEN HOUSE

Eating Japanese food, and this time it's all about RAMEN . It was a bountiful meal and we ordered several Japanese dishes:   SPICY SHOYA STAMINA RAMEN (whole size)  SEAFOOD RAMEN  - half size + Php 20.00 to make it SPICY  SHOYU RAMEN - half size GYOUZA  JUMBO SIOMAI CHAHAN - half size Since we knew we were dining in a RAMEN House, so we ordered several ramen dishes.  And all of the 3 ramen recipes we ordered were delectably memorable.  I am giving a perfect 10 for all the 3 dishes for the generous serving size, the abundance of ingredients and the richness of its taste. My overall rating for the restaurant: (food + services + ambiance + value for money) = 8 of 10, mostly for the foods' taste and serving size. This particular branch of 168 RAMEN HOUSE is located at  27, Crossroads, Gov. M. Cuenco Ave, Cebu City, 6000 Cebu Phone : ...
