Something Japanese in Cebu City, Philippines - RAMEN SORA

When my mom is dining with us outside our home, seldom do we have the chance to convince her to a Japanese restaurant.  But since she has been interested in Ramen some few months ago, when I suggested for RAMEN SORA, the supposed "no" became a Yes!

It is always true, that one should not judge a book by its cover.  The menu of RAMEN SORA was somewhat shabby, but when I opened the first few pages, I was astounded by the informative content. 

The spread above discussed on "How to Enjoy a Ramen" and below was a vivid illustration of the parts/ingredients of a Ramen.  How cool and enlightening!

And this is how our actual RAMEN appeared right before our eyes, see photo below.  

MISO DELUXE SORA RAMEN was recommended by the wait staff to whom I inquired as to which was their bestseller ramen.

It costs Php 435.00, it was good for sharing up to 3-4 persons.

The bird's eye view shot showed my favorite WHITE STEAMED JAPANESE RICE and we even ordered a SHRIMP TEMPURA too, see photo below.

An order for Shrimp Tempura costs Php 315.00, it was good for sharing up to 3 persons.

Not okay since it was too oily and the coating was not delicious.

My parents love fresh vegetable salads, and we were lucky enough that they serve such kind too.  We ordered for the GREEN SALAD, see photo below.

An order of the salad costs Php 105.00, it was good for sharing up to 3 persons.  

Comment: 

A-ok!  Vegetables were indeed fresh.  

Though presentation-wise, a bowl with a bigger mouth could have been better.

When eating Japanese cuisine, one of my go-to dishes is the GYOZA!

An order of the 5 pieces of Gyoza costs Php 175.00, it was good for sharing up to 3-5 persons.  

Comment: 

The gyoza was smaller in size but the taste was typical of a gyoza!

Since my parents are into vegetables, especially okra/ladies' finger, good that RAMEN SORA included YAKITORI (grilled) OKURA in their menu but prepared by grilling the vegetables.

An order of grilled Okra on stick costs Php 35.00.

Comment: 

I don't think grilling the okra is a good idea.  These vegetables are best known to be eaten after being steamed.  Upon serving, the vegetables looked badly burnt and thus affecting the taste of the vegetable.
